Hey friends!

Queering the Burbs has officially been committing silly little craft crimes for one full year (aww??) and in honour of surviving 12 months of chaos, crooked stitches, and “is this idea good bad or BAD bad?” moments… we’re doing a giveaway!

As a tiny queer-run business, we're held together by community love, hot glue, and whatever shared brain cell happens to clock in on any given day. To say that we have FELT THE LOVE this year is an understatement.

Thank you for supporting us, cheering us on, adopting our strange little creations, and letting this weird little business exist in the world. We appreciate you more than you know, and we are SO terrified EXCITED for another year of hilarious craft mistakes, surprise successes, and whatever the hell else we get up to. We're just stumbling through this world with you and this is our coping mechanism.

These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the 2025 Queering the Burbs Anniversary Giveaway.

By entering the Giveaway, we assume you accept these terms and conditions. Do not enter if you do not agree to take all of the terms and conditions stated on this page.

1. Sponsor

The One Year Anniversary Giveaway (“the Giveaway”) is administered by Queering the Burbs, based in British Columbia, Canada (“the Sponsor”).

This Giveaway is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram. By participating, you agree to release Instagram from any responsibility.

2. Eligibility

The Giveaway is open to residents of Canada (excluding Quebec).

Participants must have a valid Canadian mailing address.

Participants under age 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to enter.

Employees, contractors, or immediate family members (spouses, parents, siblings, and children) of the Sponsor are not eligible.

3. Giveaway Period

The Giveaway begins immediately upon announcement and ends on December 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM PST.

4. How to Enter

Participants may enter using any or all entry methods:

A. Instagram Entry

1. Follow @queeringtheburbs on Instagram. All entries submitted through Instagram must be from an account that is following @queeringtheburbs at the time of entry and the final draw to qualify.

2. Complete one or multiple of the following activities on Instagram:

• Comment responding to one of the designated prompts in a Giveaway Post (1 entry; limited to 1 entry per Giveaway Post).

• Tag up to 3 friends (1 entry each; max 3).
  Tags may appear in one or multiple comments. Number of comments does not matter.

• Share a Giveaway Post to Story (1 entry; limited to 1 entry per Giveaway Post).

• Share a photo or description of something from/about Queering the Burbs it in a post/story and tag @queeringtheburbs (max 1 entry).
  

B. Website Form Entry

One completed form = 1 entry.

One form per person.

Multiple submissions using different emails by the same individual will not be counted.

C. Purchase Entry

Every completed order = 1 entry.

Additional entry for every $20 CAD spent (excluding tax/shipping/fees).

Customers purchasing on the website are entered automatically. No form required for this method.

No purchase necessary to enter; see Sections A and B above for non-purchase entry methods.

D. Combining Entries

All eligible entries from all methods are combined. No maximum total entries beyond method limits.

5. Prize

One winner.

Approximate Value: $50-$100 CAD.

Includes: one "Queering the Burbs" t-shirt in size selected by the winner. The Sponsor will attempt to accommodate if the size requested is not currently in stock but cannot guarantee the availability of sizes that cannot promptly be sourced from a supplier.

Prize has no cash value and may vary due to handmade nature.

6. Winner Selection

Random draw between January 1-3, 2026.

Odds depend on total entries.

7. Winner Notification

Winner contacted within 5 business days via:

1. Email first (if available)

2. Instagram DM second (if no email)

Winner must respond within 5 business days. If the winner does not respond or is ineligible, another entrant may be selected.

Winner may be required to answer a skill-testing question.

8. Privacy

Information used only for contest administration and prize fulfillment. Not shared or sold.

By entering, you agree to allow Queering the Burbs to use a first name, account handle, or nickname in an announcement/post should you be selected as the winner. Preference and consent will be sought from the winner once selected.

9. General Conditions

Sponsor may cancel, modify, or suspend the Giveaway if needed.

Sponsor may disqualify participants who tamper with the process.

Sponsor not responsible for technical issues preventing entries.

10. Liability Release

Entrants release Queering the Burbs from liability related to participation or prize.

Sponsor not responsible for:

• Lost, late, or misdirected entries

• Technical malfunctions

• Entry errors

• Shipping delays, lost packages, or damage in transit

11. Governing Law

Governed by laws of British Columbia and Canada.
